Troubleshooting
Lagging audio, video freezing, dropped connections:
- This is most likely a bandwidth issue. Close unnecessary applications or browser tabs to conserve bandwidth.
Other audio/video issues:
- Try increasing the volume of your speakers/microphone.
- Try muting and unmuting your microphone or turning your camera off and back on.
- Try leaving the meeting and rejoining to refresh the connection.
- Try using a different device, if available.
- Try using two devices, like a phone and a computer; one for audio only (turn the camera off), and one for video only (turn the microphone off).
Crosstalk/arguing:
- Promptly remind them to speak on at a me – every me. DO NOT join the argument, but you can be firm in
reminding them to speak one at a me.
- If you didn’t catch what they said, most likely the recorder didn’t catch what they said either. It is okay to
interrupt and ask the attorney or witness to please repeat their queson or answer.
Other Environmental Issues:
- Background noises like a loud television, children, pets, discussions in the background, or yard equipment can
really distort the ability to get a clear record. Politely ask the participant if they can move to another room to
ensure we get a clear record.
Reminders:
- Billing attorney gets a copy of the video/rough tran/PIP video automatically delivered to their DepoDirect platform.
- Please ensure you have verified your Read & Sign orders are not copy orders or vice/versa
- If attorneys have any questions about cost direct them to support@depodirect.com.
Read & Sign California procedures
Our default is to handle these depositions by code, but our Reporters will abide by any stipulations that are
agreed to by parties.
If by stip:
If the Reporter is relieved of their duties under the code (Stip), the original transcript will be produced and sent
to the billing attorney with an errata sheet & signature page included. The billing attorney is responsible for the
cost of this original.
If by code:
If the Read & Sign is ordered, the original transcript will be produced and the billing attorney bears the cost of
that original transcript production per CCP. Opposing counsel must order a copy of the certified transcript for
Read & Sign purposes. The “Read Only” version of the Final will be sent electronically to the Witness/Witness
counsel as soon as it is produced. This “Read Only” version has an errata page included and the ability to sign
(electronically) for the witness. The Certified, Final transcript and the final copy of the transcript will be
delivered electronically to both parties (with the errata and signature) after the 30 day Read & Sign period. It is
the duty of the billing attorney to preserve the original transcript as sent. A physical, sealed original can be
produced at request of billing attorney. The cost of this physical will be borne by the billing attorney.
